In this chapter, I reflect on my academic journey and analyze the influence of Liz Stanley’s work on it. I focus on the intersection of life-writing studies and historical research, discussing how Stanley’s contributions to the theory of auto/biography and her strong feminist perspective have opened this field to other scholars. I examine the concept of relationality in biographical research, which has been pivotal since Stanley’s influential theory of auto/biopraphy in the early 1990s, and demonstrate how Adriana Cavarero’s ideas on relationality helped shape my understanding. I apply this theory of relational biographical writing to two of my recent biographical works. The book on Finnish artist and writer Tove Jansson led me to expand the idea of relationality to include Jansson’s connection to her natural environment, specifically the Finnish archipelago, and to explore the genre of environmental biography. The other work, on the early 20th century forgotten Finnish poet and writer Aarni Kouta, provides a perspective on cultural oblivion and the ways cultural memory is constructed by omitting certain elements, in this case, for example, the cultural history of esotericism in Finland. In conclusion, I discuss how the relationship between a biographer and their subject evolves when examining something familiar and known in relation to something entirely unknown. The cases of Jansson and Kouta offer valuable examples for exploring the dynamics between a biographer and their subject.
- Ladataan...Test-Time Learning for Outlier DetectionYang, Jiawei; Chen, Jingdong; Rahardja, Susanto (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE))In this work, the concept of test-time learning is presented, wherein Machine-Learning (ML) models are constructed by involving unlabeled test samples. Based on this concept, we propose a method called Local Augment (LA) designed to improve the performance of trained outlier detectors at the prediction stage without altering the trained models or accessing the training data. LA operates under the only assumption that the model should produce similar outputs for similar inputs, implying that the prediction of a given sample can be enhanced by the predictions for its similar samples. Specifically, LA boosts outlier detection performance during prediction by fusing the outlier score of a given sample with the scores of synthetically neighboring samples generated by adding random perturbations to the given sample. This simple method demonstrates an average improvement of about +0.04 Area Under the Receiver Operating Characteristic curve (AUROC) across 26 real-world datasets for all 14 tested detectors. Notably, this represents the pioneering work of enhancing ML models during the prediction stage without the need to modify the trained models or access the training dataset. This work opens up new possibilities for addressing existing bottleneck problems in various ML tasks beyond outlier detection in diverse domains.

Objectives This study aimed to establish consensus on items to be included in professional guidelines supporting clinical practitioners and community organisations to effectively implement physical activity (PA) interventions for children and young people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Methods A modified Delphi study was conducted in two stages. First, a roundtable discussion was held with a steering panel of 12 experts in the field to inform initial items for consideration within the Delphi survey. This was followed by a two-round survey of a wider panel of international experts to establish consensus of agreement on the items that should be included in implementation guidelines for PA interventions for this population ensuring relevance across geographical and cultural contexts.
Results 46 experts from eight countries, academics and practitioners in the field of PA took part. Consensus was reached on 73 items for inclusion in implementation guidelines. These included items related to context for the PA (eg, familiar spaces, community needs assessments and marginalised communities), activities to support implementation (PA prioritisation and facilitator training) and key outcomes to measure from individual (eg, participation in and enjoyment of PA) to systems level (eg, drop-out, reach and number of PA opportunities).
Conclusion The items identified through this study will be incorporated into professional guidelines supporting effective and sustainable implementation of PA interventions for children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This will include using cross-sector collaboration between health, education and community services; workforce training and support; accessible infrastructure and resources; family engagement; and system-level monitoring and evaluation.
