Tiivistelmä
Health sector is in constant need of getting information about their patient. Especially when they create laboratory referrals for them. In Finland we have two major applications dedicated to the health sector, especially primary and secondary healthcare, Uranus and Pegasos. They have been both implemented by CGI for decades now.
In this thesis, we are focusing mostly on what functionalities, in Uranus and Pegasos cases, could get benefits out of the HL7 integration. Our goal is to create a communication of data between Omni program and other applications so that we could at the end, create a referral for example in Omni and get the results of it in another program. Omni is the program CGI is implementing so that later we could be able to replace Uranus and Pegasos with it.
The HL7 integration consists of two different parts, the first one is going to be the HL7 message sending to the message system so that we could see the structure of the message from there. This part was implemented successfully and has already been tested. The other part will be the message processing which consists of getting an HL7 message from the system and dismantle the data from it. That part will be implemented in the future as it was not a priority for our client to get this second part done.
