Abstract

<p>Examining the role of the European standards within the general framework of the common market. The paper deals with questions of governance of the standardisation regime, its perceived accountability and legitimacy and competition law aspects of standardisation. The paper argues that due to opaqueness of the process of the standardisation its legitimacy is wanting and based, to a great extent, on an assumption that the mere existence of procedural rules will secure an impeccable process.</p>
