Tiivistelmä
A late medieval waste pit filled with bone and window glass found in Turku, Finland is studied through microarchaeological paradigm: what did the waste material consist of, and which activities had taken place at the urban site? The waste pit can be securely dated to 1470–1520. This is an early date for window glass and hitherto the earliest dating for a shard of octagonal passglas in Turku. Furthermore, a diverse assemblage of domestic and wild animal bones was found, representing a prosperous urban household, possibly a prebend house. The window glass is suggested to be related to master glassmaker Menart mentioned in 1509.
