Abstract

<p>In this article, conditional sentences of three Permic language forms are compared<br>in the light of a parallel corpus. The interest to write such an article<br>was initially piqued by the fact that both native and non-native researchers<br>and teachers of the Permic languages have different ideas about the form of<br>the predicate of the conditional sentence. The presence of the predicate in the<br>past tense form has been considered, at least among some native-speaker researchers,<br>as a hallmark of a ”pure language”. However, it seems that the<br>conditional sentences of the Permic languages have used a range of tenses for<br>quite a long time. Similarly, it has been suggested that the verb form of the<br>past tense would indicate the irreality of the conditional sentence, which is<br>not entirely true in the light of the material. In the conditional sentences of<br>the Permic languages, there is also other variation, for example, regarding the<br>conjunctions used in them and their location, as well as sentence order. In<br>this article, the mentioned variables are described and compared on a general<br>level.<br></p>
