How to handle system failure : a DevOps perspective

Abstract

Cyber resilience is all about getting an information system back in a previous desired state. How can this be achieved? This paper will explain which activities an information system development organization must do to become cyber resilient. It will explain what cyber resilience exactly is as well as it will explain why DevOps and an agile approach will help to achieve this. The key activities will be described and explained. It will give examples of activities and documentation for cyber resilience. It will present a framework in which cyber resilient success factors can be presented. The framework is modular and can be used in different information system development organizations. The framework is designed through design science for IS. The framework is designed through literature study, observations interviews and a focus group. The research is conducted at start-up company consisting out of less than 50 employees who develop an information system for financial services
