Emerging technologies in sharing economy : a review and research agenda

Abstract

<p> Emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), blockchain, machine learning, big data, and the Internet of Things, play a pivotal role in sharing economy (SE) services. Empirical studies on the roles of these emerging technologies in SE are increasing. However, the existing studies are highly fragmented, and the current literature fails to provide a comprehensive understanding of the role these technologies play in SE. Employing AI-based machine-learning topic modeling techniques, this systematic literature review identifies dominant research areas and maps the research related to the role of emerging technologies in SE. Our content analysis identified nine themes organized into four broad categories. Based on these findings, we have developed an integrated framework and provided insights into future research avenues. Furthermore, based on the findings, we provide theoretical and practical implications. <br></p>
