No Worries - the AI Is Dumb (for Now)

Abstract

<p>The hype around Artificial Intelligence (AI) is on. The praise for AI to<br />solve the issues in the society, warnings about AI generating new issues in the<br />society and many ideas on how AI will transform our world upside down are hot<br />topics around both the scientific community and media discussions alike. However,<br />the AI solutions we currently have in use seem to be more or less not worth<br />the hype. Moreover, the current AI solutions in consumer use seem to be lacking<br />the intelligence part. This might not be the case for long, but to understand the<br />possible future scenarios, we must take a look to the current state of affairs. In<br />this paper a current state of consumer AI is discussed and then related to the<br />possible future outcomes of AI development and its effects on society.<br /></p>
