| dc.description.abstract | This thesis examines the themes of slavery, dehumanisation and social segregation in Philip K. Dick’s Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? (1996). While prominent themes in the novel are posthumanism and artificial intelligence, the aim of this thesis was to argues that it also functions as a critique of Atlantic slave trade. The thesis approaches this question applying different concepts from philosophy to economics. The analysis of these themes concludes that in the novel being human is not a biological reality, but a legally protected status designed to protect the master class. | |
