Bringing sustainability to shipbuilding through supplier integration

Abstract

<p> The report examines the role of supplier integration in cruise shipbuilding’s supplier networks in the development of ideas or innovations that support sustainability. A wide network of suppliers participates in the production of cruise ships in Finland, but meeting the future demands also requires appropriate integration of suppliers in the development activities. The report presents the identified prerequisites for supplier integration related to the development of sustainability, such as activating interaction between different actors, deciding on a common strategic direction, and getting mechanisms for valuing sustainability in the decision-making of organizations. <br></p>
