First-in-Human Study of 68 Ga-DOTA-Siglec-9, PET Ligand Targeting Vascular Adhesion Protein 1
Sialic acid-binding immunoglubulin-like lectin 9 (Siglec-9) is a ligand of vascular adhesion protein 1 (VAP-1). A gallium 68-labeled peptide of Siglec-9, 68Ga-DOTA-Siglec-9, holds promise as a novel PET tracer ...
Artificial Intelligence to Improve Risk Prediction with Nuclear Cardiac Studies
<p>Purpose of Review<br>As machine learning-based artificial intelligence (AI) continues to revolutionize the way in which we analyze data, the field of nuclear cardiology provides fertile ground for the implementation of ...
Body Adiposity, But Not Elements of Objectively Measured Sedentary Behavior or Physical Activity, Is Associated With Circulating Liver Enzymes in Adults With Overweight and Obesity
Objective: We studied the associations between accelerometer-measured sedentary behavior (SB) and habitual physical activity (PA) as well as markers of body adiposity and other cardiometabolic risk factors with liver enzymes ...
Global and segmental absolute stress myocardial blood flow in prediction of cardiac events: [15O] water positron emission tomography study
Purpose We evaluated the value of reduced global and segmental absolute stress myocardial blood flow (sMBF) quantified by [O-15] water positron emission tomography (PET) for predicting cardiac events in patients with ...
Functional stress imaging to predict abnormal coronary fractional flow reserve: the PACIFIC 2 study
<p>Aims<br>The diagnostic performance of non-invasive imaging in patients with prior coronary artery disease (CAD) has not been tested in prospective head-to-head comparative studies. The aim of this study was to compare ...
Improving patient identification for advanced cardiac imaging through machine learning-integration of clinical and coronary CT angiography data
<p>Background<br />Standard computed tomography angiography (CTA) outputs a myriad of interrelated variables in the evaluation of suspected coronary artery disease (CAD). But an important proportion of obstructive lesions ...
Atherosclerotic plaque characteristics on quantitative coronary computed tomography angiography associated with ischemia on positron emission tomography in diabetic patients
<p>Patients with diabetes mellitus (DM) may show diffuse coronary artery atherosclerosis on coronary computed tomography angiography (CTA). The present study aimed at quantification of atherosclerotic plaque with CTA and ...
Evaluation of [68Ga]Ga-NODAGA-RGD for PET Imaging of Rat Autoimmune Myocarditis
<p>The 68Gallium-labeled 1,4,7-triazacyclononane-1-glutaric acid-4,7-diacetic acid conjugated radiolabelled arginine-glycine-aspartic acid peptide ([68Ga]Ga-NODAGA-RGD) is a positron emission tomography (PET) tracer binding to cell surface receptor αvβ3 integrin that is upregulated during angiogenesis and inflammation. We studied whether αvβ3 targeting PET imaging can detect myocardial inflammation in a rat model of autoimmune myocarditis. To induce myocarditis, rats (n = 8) were immunized with porcine cardiac myosin in complete Freund's adjuvant on days 0 and 7. Control rats (n = 8) received Freund's adjuvant alone. On day 21, in vivo PET/CT imaging with [68Ga]Ga-NODAGA-RGD followed by ex vivo autoradiography and immunohistochemistry were carried out. Inflammatory lesions were detected histologically in the myocardium of 7 out of 8 immunized rats. In vivo PET images showed higher [68Ga]Ga-NODAGA-RGD accumulation in the myocardium of rats with inflammation than the non-inflamed myocardium of control rats (SUVmean 0.4 ± 0.1 vs. 0.1 ± 0.02; P = 0.00006). Ex vivo autoradiography and histology confirmed that [68Ga]Ga-NODAGA-RGD uptake co-localized with inflammatory lesions containing αvβ3 integrin-positive capillary-like structures. A non-specific [68Ga]Ga-DOTA-(RGE)2 tracer showed 76% lower uptake than [68Ga]Ga-NODAGA-RGD in the inflamed myocardium. Our results indicate that αvβ3 integrin-targeting [68Ga]Ga-NODAGA-RGD is a potential PET tracer for the specific detection of active inflammatory lesions in autoimmune myocarditis.<br></p>...
Classification of ischemia from myocardial polar maps in 15 O-H 2 O cardiac perfusion imaging using a convolutional neural network
<p>We implemented a two-dimensional convolutional neural network (CNN) for classification of polar maps extracted from Carimas (Turku PET Centre, Finland) software used for myocardial perfusion analysis. 138 polar maps ...
